Each Christmas, the Piedmont Flyers Bicycle Club partners with five local bike shops in Winston Salem to bring smiles and bicycles to kids in the Triad area. Through our Club's proceeds from membership, our annual Lewisville Yadkin River Metric Century, and the generous donations of our members and friends, we purchase bicycles at a discounted rate through our local bike shops to donate to WXII's program with the Salvation Army. Each year, the bicycles are distributed in Forsyth, Yadkin, Davidson, and Stokes Counties to deserving kids for Christmas.
For 2008, our goal is donating 50 brand new bicycles and helmets through our Bikes For Kids program. If you would like to contribute by sponsoring the cost of a bicycle and helmet or any other amount, contact Tony Cottrell at tonycottrell@mac.com. Donations will be tax-deductible for 2008.
A big thank you to everyone who made 2007's "Bikes for Kids" a success...
